Posted: 9:22 AM- A fire broke out at a Salt Lake City funeral home Tuesday afternoon as workers cremated the remains of a man who weighed more than 600 pounds.

"In the process, some of the body fat had liquefied and leaked out ... and caused a fire similar to a grease fire," said Scott Freitag, a spokesman with the Salt Lake City Fire Department.

An employee at Gardner Funeral Home, 1001 E. 11th Ave. put the blaze out with fire extinquisher before firefighters arrived, he said.

The department assisted with smoke removal, and there was no damage to the funeral home, Freitag said.

You know, they really should save some of that stuff. Other than as insulation and for explosives, i can probably think of 5 other good uses for it.

since that's such an appetizing post, here are some restaurant suggestions for your trip!

zen palate in union square has good vegetarian food, yama has good sushi and is in the same neighborhood (17th st. and irving pl. - between park and 3rd aves), there is a mexican place los dos molinos (sorry if the spelling is off) on 18th and irving.

if you're looking for brunch, i like essex on essex and rivington on the lower east side, but that's mainly because it includes bottomless mimosas (which probably doesn't help you much hahaha).

have a safe trip! bring your umbrella. it's supposed to rain saturday. oh, and i hate to be the bearer of bad news, but your friend expressed interest in dancing and that's against the law in new york unless the establishment has a cabaret license. for reals.
